These researchers went above and beyond and found great things to help society. They are all remarkable in their accomplishments and they help society so much, particularly in the area of cancer.

1. Dr. Robert Weinberg: He is well known for his contributions to the findings of breast cancer and more importantly how to treat it. He is credited with discovering the first human oncogene Ras, which is the gene that causes normal cells to form tumors. This is a substantial finding as it has lead to more information on cancer and how to treat it. He is also the founding member of the Whitehead Institute, which has helped many with cancer and other related illnesses. He is revolutionary and a legend in his time for the work that he has done.

2. Dr. Harold Varmus: He has received a Nobel Prize for his research on cancer. He was appointed as the 14th director to the National Cancer Institute and there he stays. He has spent so much time within radiology and has focused so much attention on cancer research. He is considered to be an expert in the field or radiology and his research has helped so many. He continues to research cures for cancer and is very famous for the work that he’s done.

3. Dr. Oliver Smithies: He too has received a Nobel Prize for the work that he’s done within radiology and related fields. He is credited with finding the cells with specific gene modifications that can lead to cancer and other related illnesses. He performed much of his research using embryonic cells from mice and even his technique with this is revolutionary.

4. Rita Levi-Montalcini: She is an Italian neurologist who has also received the Nobel Prize for her work. She has not only worked successfully within neurology but has been credited with using radiology to find out how cells develop in and around the brain. This has lead to great advancements within cancer research and of course has been instrumental in helping people from all around the world.

5. Renato Dulbecco: He received an early Nobel Prize for his work in the field and is still celebrated years later. His work focused on viruses and how the body catches and processes them. He not only focused on what viruses did to humans, but also how the development of something like this showed up in cancer. This lent way to early cancer research which has been fundamental in how it is treated all these years later.

There are many greats who have used radiology and other types of technology and science to better society. These have all received much credit for their contributions which are helping millions today.
